The tile of the bathroom floor was cold, even with a towel down. Hailey had applied her make up and fixed her hair; she wanted to still look decent when she was found. She sat with her back to the bathroom counter and her knees pulled to her chest. Tears streaked down her face. This was not how she thought things would turn out. It had been over a year since Bear had claimed her and brought her into the Den. She had started hormones and undergone laser therapy. She had her vocal cords augmented and her breasts and figure were surprisingly well developed. A lot of the other girls were envious of what came naturally to Hailey. All that was left was the gender reaffirming procedure, and it didn’t seem as though she would be getting that any time soon. The night before, Hailey had argued with Bear about this very subject. “You promised me, Bear! You said if I gave you what you required, you would give me what I need. I’ve met all the conditions, I’ve talked to your psychologists, and I’ve been to your doctor every month!”

“Yes, Hailey, I know this. But it’s not something that can be done overnight! Most people have to wait years before they’re fully transitioned--”

“--I don’t have years! Do you have any idea what it’s like to look at yourself in the mirror and not truly see your real self? To cry in the shower because you hate your body so much, that you can’t stand to touch it even to bathe? Or to think about having sex as a woman, but you are physically incapable of it? You don’t know how it feels, because you were given the body you were meant to have!”

“ENOUGH!” Bear roared, Hailey recoiling immediately. “I don’t know where you get off thinking you can speak to me any way you please, but may I remind you that I’m the reason you aren’t just another Tranny walking the streets. Do not resent me for how I was born, you should be grateful for what I’ve done in the first place!” The argument ended there when Bear dismissed her from her office. And now here she sat on the bathroom floor at fifteen after five in the morning. Samantha had stayed the night with whomever she was dating at the time, and Hailey had taken a handful of pills just a little while ago. Her stomach hurt, but she refused to vomit. By the time anyone would find her, she would have slipped away peacefully. No more burden, no more pain. She squinted her eyes; her vision was fuzzy and her head was pounding. This was not what she wanted out of life, but she could not go on like this any longer. The pain was unbearable, and being told ‘it will happen when it happens’ every time she asked had driven her to the end of her rope. She wasn’t sure how much time had lapsed as she slipped further and further away.
